Greg Payce: Illusions at the Gardiner Museum

The Gardiner Museum will celebrate the New Year by recognizing Canadian ceramic artist Greg Payce with a solo exhibition. Greg Payce: Illusions (February 2 - May 6 2012) features the signature ceramic installations that elevated Payce to superstar status in the ceramics community and brought him to the attention of the contemporary art world, as well as his more recent large scale lenticular photographs and video works. Payce’s work is steeped in history and also very contemporary. Technically brilliant, it surprises and delights by playing with our perceptions.

Greg Payce: Illusions is the first exhibition to be presented by the Gardiner Museum under the auspices of the Raphael Yu Centre of Canadian Ceramics. The Yu Centre is a virtual destination accessible via the Gardiner Museum’s web site, (www.gardinermuseum.com) which was created to celebrate Canadian ceramic art and artists.

PUNCH Goes South...

PUNCH Goes South... to The Bahamas!

Just a short three hour flight from Toronto lays the undiscovered treasure that is Freeport, Grand Bahama Island – where the opportunities for affordable and breathtaking travel experiences are abundant.

PUNCH representative Jessica Patriquin took down a very special group of journalists for a few sun-drenched and fun-filled days on Grand Bahama Island! The group experienced authentic Bahamian culture, and enjoyed decadent cuisine, like traditional conch dishes and tasty island cocktails like the Bahama Mama and Goombay Smash. The group explored Grand Bahama Island’s diverse eco-system on a Jeep Safari Nature Tour, galloping through the island’s terrain on horseback, and swimming with dolphins in exquisite turquoise coloured waters.

With so much to see and do, the PUNCH team is already excited to start planning the next Bahamian adventure!

Colour Care Across Canada

Benjamin Moore and The Canadian Women's Foundation Team Up to Make a Difference

PUNCH is super excited to be a part of Benjamin Moore’s Colour Care Across Canada program, an initiative that is transforming women’s shelters across Canada with uplifting colour paint makeovers, in partnership with The Canadian Women’s Foundation.

“Abuse against women is increasing at frightening rates in Canada, and it has contributed significantly to driving women and their children from their homes, onto the streets and seeking safe havens like those The Canadian Women’s Foundation works with,” said Mike Kolind, market general manager for Benjamin Moore Canada. “For those in shelters, it can be a demoralising, and in some cases, a de-humanising condition breaking the spirit of any family. The shelters are being taxed and strained by the growing numbers. Although there’s no simple solution to this troubling occurrence, Benjamin Moore’s aim in launching ‘Colour Care Across Canada’ is to bring attention to the situation, and at the same time try and brighten, with the power of colour, the living environments of those who seek this basic human need for safe housing and a community of support.”
